The Independence of the Bahamas In 1492, an island called the Bahamas was found by a man named Christopher Columbus who never knew that this Island would grow to have over 350k people living there to this day. This island Is located in the Caribbean’s where many other Islands involved with the English were also located. Some of these would include Jamaica, Barbados, Dominica, etc. Most of the Countries in the Caribbean were just Islands just like the Bahamas. The Bahamas was conquered many, many times by different groups including English Puritans, pirates, and eventually the English. The English took control of The Bahamas for almost 325 years. Eventually, the Bahamas had grown tired of the British rule and eventually desired to become independent and free from English rule.
