Intro to the research of the Bahamas

The Independence of the Bahamas

In 1492, an island called the Bahamas was found by a man named Christopher Columbus who never knew that this Island would grow to have over 350k people living there to this day. This island Is located in the Caribbean’s where many other Islands involved with the English were also located. Some of these would include Jamaica, Barbados, Dominica, etc. Most of the Countries in the Caribbean were just Islands just like the Bahamas. The Bahamas was conquered many, many times by different groups including English Puritans, pirates, and eventually the English. The English took control of The Bahamas for almost 325 years. Eventually, the Bahamas had grown tired of the British rule and eventually desired to become independent and free from English rule. In order to do that, they had to develop their own economy and own political party. There were several different reasons that the Bahamas wanted to separate from the British rule like the Economy or the lack of power in their government. The Economy was unstable before they were a free country and they also lacked power. The Bahamas couldn’t make their own decision without asking the English for permission. The Bahamas was tired of having to ask to make decisions and eventually were granted to have their own political party. In the further paragraphs, I will explain more in-depth about the power that the Bahamas had and how the economy was before they were free. I will also briefly explain the history of the Bahamas and talk more about the commonwealth which was later founded after the independence, and of course, talk about what became of the Bahamas after they had gained independence. I will also include what the English would get in return if they allowed the Bahamas to go free and not worry about the English rule. The Country itself has come a long way today and has also grown to have the second-best economy in the Caribbean! Before we move on to the history section of the Essay, we must first ask ourselves, why did the Bahamas want a stricter government?
